A tracker for the feeling that no result ever quite closes

The achievement lands and the feeling doesn't move — that's the specific frustration of 'not good enough,' and it survives good results as easily as bad ones. Mendly logs the feeling on iPhone with one tap. Hourly patterns show when it fires relative to actual outcomes, which is often barely at all.

The research

Schema therapy researcher Jeffrey Young identified 'defectiveness/shame' as a core early belief — the conviction that something is fundamentally wrong with you, which he found operates largely outside conscious awareness and resists change through insight alone. Mendly's hourly pattern data works around that limitation by tracking behavior (when the feeling fires) rather than asking you to reason your way out of the belief.

Quiz

What's your 'not good enough' pattern?

Question 1 of 4

When does the 'not good enough' feeling hit hardest?

A belief that doesn't update when you succeed was never really about your performance. It's a fixed setting, not a live score — and fixed settings show up in your data as a pattern with no relationship to results, which is exactly the kind of thing you can't see from inside the feeling.

Features

One-tap logging

One tap marks the thought — no typing, no prompts. The friction is so low it actually works mid-meeting, mid-walk, mid-spiral.

Milestone badges

16 badges that celebrate your awareness, not your perfection. First Catch, Streaks, Early Bird, Voice Found — each one earned.

Weekly reports

A gentle summary of your week. Not a grade — just a window into your patterns.

Not quite your pattern? A self-doubt tracker for the voice that shows up whenever something matters might fit better

Apps like MindLift ask you to weigh evidence for and against the thought as you log it — the same move that's usually already been tried by hand and hasn't moved the feeling. Mendly skips the evidence-weighing and tracks the feeling's actual schedule instead.

Common questions

I already know logically that I'm doing fine. Why doesn't that help?
Core beliefs like this are described in schema therapy research as operating largely outside conscious reasoning, which is part of why evidence-based arguments often fail to move them. Mendly doesn't try to out-argue the belief — it tracks when it fires, which can reveal it's less tied to actual outcomes than it feels.
Is this a CBT app?
No. There's no thought record or evidence-weighing worksheet. Mendly logs the feeling and shows you the pattern over time — a complement to therapy, not a replacement for it.
How is this different from a journaling app?
Journaling asks you to process the feeling in writing each time. Mendly's tap marks that it occurred — the insight comes from the pattern across many entries, not from processing any single one.
